A QR code is a code that is generated through a machine or on the computer that can then be read through the camera on any type of smart phone. Therefore, teachers love using QR codes because it is an easy way of giving kids information and can save time in the classroom for the actual lesson. Using QR codes can be very beneficial in all aspects of life. But here are a few examples of how they are beneficial to teachers; they save time, you can use it throughout the classroom to teach a lesson, can use it to access links to videos, eliminates a long web address when you are trying to get the whole class to go to a site, and it is something new that students are not used to. Some cons to QR codes is that in order for this to work you need to download a QR code reader app, not all people use or have smartphones, and people who aren’t as tech savvy might have a more difficult time using it. Above I have inserted a picture of the app you should download to use a QR code and was it looks like.
Screen time usage and making sure that children do not over use it is important. I feel that even though the games or activities they are doing on their electronic devise is educational; limiting screen time is still beneficial. Children need to learn not to rely so much on technology and electric devices. However, I do feel that when children use QR codes, the time spent using them is valuable. The great thing about it is how quick a QR code is to use and access. Therefore, when children are using this tool, it is not taking up too much of there required hours of screen time. Once again you are able to use a QR code by searching “QR reading” in your app store and then downloading it. You can do this on any type of smartphone (iPhone or android) and also on an iPad. What intriguing is that anyone can make a QR code by copying the URL to the QR code generator, which can be done at https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/. In conclusion, teachers should use QR codes in more of lesson plans and throughout their classrooms. |
